The Manager, Patient Care Services is a leadership role that has comprehensive operational authority and responsibility for the Float Pool at Monroe Carell Jr Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. Their responsibilities include: fiscal accountability, rounding with staff, maintaining quality and regulatory standards, maintaining a high level of patient/family centered care and service, patient and staff satisfaction, program development, project management, managing and developing teams, and ensuring integration with the clinical enterprise. Provides feedback, coaching and mentoring to less experienced peers and other members of the health care team.
Collaborates to operationalize the mission, strategic plan, budgets, resource allocation, operational plans, and policies for the PCC, Hospitals and Vanderbilt Clinic.
Prepares annual operating and capital budgets following established guidelines and using benchmark data.
Develops and monitors the implementation of area specific quality plan linked to organizational goals.

We care for pediatric patients ranging in age from newborns to young adults. Our patients can be followed for their well-child care or treated for a variety of simple to complex medical conditions and surgical procedures. The Float Pool is comprised of experienced Registered Nurses and Care Partners with a vast array of pediatric experience. We are a distinct entity within Children's Hospital in that we provide staffing support to many areas of nursing. Float Pool staff at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt provides nursing care to patients during any phase of treatment and follow-up. Services are provided along the continuum of care. The patient population served includes pediatric patients with various types of diagnoses. MCJCHV uses a collaborative total care delivery model in the provision of care to patients. The role of the Float Nurse will be directed by the unit-based leadership to support RNs as work demands. As a Float Pool Nurse the work may include, but is not limited to: assisting with RRT's/STAT calls, transporting, admitting, discharging, relieving staff for lunch breaks, etc.
