You Will Be Responsible For:
Willingly assists staff, pathologists, & leadership on projects as requested.

Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies to service clients & monitors their distribution.
Uses LIS efficiently to register patients, retrieve test results & obtain information, in keeping with established protocols.
Uses word processing software to prepare & maintain laboratory policies, protocols, procedures, & other documents related to Specimen Processing and handling of all referred testing.
Assists in the development of section policies & procedures.
Recognizes that the attainment of knowledge is every employee’s responsibility & accepts accountability for staying current on all written or electronic communication.
Enhances technical & professional knowledge by participation in mandatory & continuing education opportunities.
Cross-trained between laboratory areas.

What You Will Need:
Associate’s Degree or graduate of technical school
1-2 Years of Related experience
Secretarial/Office Practice Skills

Facilitates all communication processes regarding specimen collection, handling, processing for all referred testing within the Clinical Laboratory, Anatomic Pathology and Cytology. The Referral Specialist serves as a primary resource for all inquiries from internal and external customers. Requires continuous communication via computer, phone, fax and mail to maintain effective working relationships with other hospital departs, system facilities and external customers. Prioritizes and performs numerous duties of a highly complex nature, requiring extensive customer service, computer/word processing/spreadsheet skills and multiple clerical tasks requiring meticulous attention to detail.
