The Medical Health Technician is responsible to the Chief of Medicine or designee. The incumbent performs diagnostic tests in the Electrocardiogram (EKG) unit and throughout the hospital, which includes the Medical, Surgical, Intensive Care, Same Day Surgery, Extended Care, Psychiatry and Nursing Home Care Units. The incumbent has responsibility for carrying out administrative duties within Medical Service directly related to patient care and treatment. The incumbent will be called upon to work in different settings, which includes, Cardiology Clinic, Hematology/Oncology Clinic, Hospitalist area and stress test clinic. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Use database software to enter, revise, sort, and retrieve data for reports or review. Obtain all key information needed for patients and initiates medical administrative processing of requests and forms. Assist in the orientation of physicians and other clinic personnel, serving as a source of information concerning regulations, policies and procedures. Schedule appointments, tests and coordinates all activities of the clinic area. Schedule appointments and generates appointment reminder letters for patients. Answer telephone inquiries regarding services available, procedures for enrollment, eligibility, co-payments, etc., providing accurate and timely information. Maintain various records and files, administratively processes patient transactions, reviews records for maintenance and sequencing of forms, entries, etc. Assist in preparing exam rooms for procedures, procedures and exams. Perform electrocardiograms. Perform stress tests. Clean and maintain equipment. Initiate basic life support measures as needed; and Perform other related duties as assigned.
