This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more The Supervisory Social Worker supervises professional staff at the GS-12 grade and below, including advanced practice social workers, social work program coordinators, and administrative support staff across multiple sites within the Veterans Affairs Northern California Health Care System (VA NCHCS) catchment area. The Supervisory Social Worker is responsible for the professional and administrative management of various programs within Geriatrics and Extended Care (GEC) Service. The incumbent also provides direct clinical services as needed. As the supervisor, the incumbent assists in planning, establishing, and implementing policies and procedures; developing individual or group goals and objectives as well as monitoring, operating, evaluating, coordinating and overseeing the staff under their direct supervision. The incumbent will assure the staff whom they supervise are aware of, adhere to all current directives of Veterans Health Administration (VHA), and meet current Joint Commission standards, State licensure standards, and VA-Office of Inspector General (OIG) expectations. The incumbent will conduct ongoing intensive reviews and appraisals to ensure the accomplishment of objectives and adherence to standards set by governing bodies. The Supervisory Social Worker provides direct supervision, oversight, and education to staff in Center for Rehabilitation and Extended Care (CREC)/Community Living Center (CLC) social workers, Contract-Adult Day Health Care (C-ADHC), Respite Care, and Medical Foster Home (MFH) Programs. Incumbent may also supervise other GEC social workers and administrative support staff as needed. The incumbent will provide supervisory cross-coverage and clinical consultation to social workers under other GEC programs/sections which include: Community Nursing Home (CNH), Homemaker/Home Health Aide (H/HHA), Hospice/Palliative Care, Home Care Coordination (HCC), and Home Based Primary Care (HBPC). The incumbent may be assigned other clinical and administrative responsibilities to meet program goals. The incumbent may also be required to travel throughout VA NCHCS catchment area as needed.
